More Detail
Daniel Ek, the founder of Spotify, is taking on the healthcare sector with his new company, Neko Health. As the co-founder and CEO, Ek is leading the way in revolutionizing the healthcare industry with Neko Health's AI-powered body scans.
After four years of extensive research and product development, Neko Health is officially launching its full-body scanner, co-founded by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek with the goal of promoting early detection and preventive measures to help people maintain good health.
According to Neko Health's website, their non-invasive scanner uses over 70 sensors to collect over 50 million data points about the skin, heart, vessels, and respiration. The data is then processed by an AI self-learning system and displayed to both doctors and patients in real-time during appointments. Clients can also view and track their results through an app.
Nilsonne writes, “Our mission is to build a proactive health system that focuses on preventing disease,” citing the growing healthcare costs in Sweden and Europe. The scans only take a few minutes and cost 2,000 SEK (about $190) for the public in Sweden.
Ek's interest in the healthcare sector is no surprise. Since 2013, he has been pondering how to fix the "screwed up" healthcare system in his spare hours. Rumors of his new startup have been circulating since November.
It's too early to predict the impact of Neko Health on the healthcare industry, but it holds great promise. Similar technology has already been used by New York University and Facebook to speed up MRI scans, and AI technology that scans the retina to predict the likelihood of heart disease has also been developed. Neko Health takes this technology to the next level by making it larger scale and more accessible.
